Durable Power of Attorney
A Durable Power of Attorney is a document that lets you appoint someone to represent you regarding your financial affairs. A durable power of attorney is different than a standard power of attorney in that it will last either until you cancel it or until you die while a standard power of attorney will terminate on a specified date.
The Durable Power of Attorney Law (Prob C §4050) applies to powers of attorney other than power's of attorney for health care decisions. You need to cosult with an estate planning attorney so that you are sure whether a durable power of attorney is the correct choice for you.
